Riverhead, NY -- (March 8, 2010) A trio of Spring acting and theatre workshops geared towards introducing children to various aspects of live and on-camera performance is sure to delight aspiring Academy and Tony Award Nominees! These fun workshops are unique in that they are technique-based, rather than preparing children for a specific performance. ON-CAMERA ACTING: TV COMMERCIAL WORKSHOP

Instructor: Kathleen Furey, SAG/AFTRA

LIGHTS, CAMERA, ACTION! An acting class for kids focusing on the film/television format. Children work “on-camera” with commercial scripts written specifically for kids. Emphasis is placed on building confidence, diction, focus and character creation in a positive, supportive atmosphere. Video of each session’s work will be played back at the end of each class. Registration required. (8 classes), meets in Greenport at Brecknock Hall on Fridays, March 26-May 21 (no class April 2).

Ages 7-12 yrs: 4:30-6:00PM, Age 13+ years: 6:30-8:00PM

Cost: $120 member EEAC/$150 nonmember

 

RAINBOW GANG THEATRE  Instructor: Selina Pasca

Young actors will learn to use movement and characterization to create a student inspired drama. Each class will begin with a warm-up of body and voice and teach the basics of theater arts performance.  The class will culminate with a short production that parents and friends will be invited to attend.  Please dress comfortably and bring a water bottle---we are busy from beginning to end! (8 classes) Ages 6-9 yrs

Saturdays 10-11AM, Apr. 17-June 12 (no class 5/29)

Cost: $80 member EEAC/$100 nonmember.

 

THEATRE FOR KIDS  Instructor: Selina Pasca

For every kid who has always dreamed of one day being a performer. This class will develop basic acting skills, vocal techniques, blocking, improv skills, movement and monologue. Students will demonstrate their newly acquired skills in a presentation on the last day of class. (8 classes) Ages 10+ yrs. Meets Saturdays 11:45AM-1PM, Apr. 17-June 12 (no class 5/29)

Cost: $100 member EEAC/$125 nonmember.

 

Kathleen Furey (SAG/AFTA), Film Acting
Ms. Furey has over 20 years experience in front of and behind the camera, including as director, producer, casting director, film & video editor, acting, public speaking and voice coach, actor and model. Many of her students work professionally in the film/television industry, nationally aired commercials, and include winners of the prestigious Emmy, Telly, and Teeny Awards.

Selina Pasca, Theatre

Ms. Pasca holds a BA in Literature and Theatre Arts from Emerson College. She taught preschool age through the high school level with The University of Florida’s Extension program and Briarwood Montessori School. She taught also taught and directed musical and drama vignettes at the Palm Beach Christian School, has acted with local Long Island theatre companies, including The Hampton Theatre Company and Gateway Children’s Theatre and was a broadcast news host for the NAB Convention in Las Vegas.
