Anna Epstein-Kravis began studying classical piano at age eight. At fifteen, she began learning folk banjo; and, by age sixteen, she was writing and performing songs at folk music gatherings and festivals, as well as teaching banjo. Interest in theater and cabaret brought her to New York City, where she performed in clubs, acted in off-Broadway theater productions and taught banjo at the New School for Social Research at the 92 Street Y. Anna joined with friend, Janice Buckner, to form the acclaimed musical duo Sweet Rose Revue. Throughout the 80's, they performed thousands of concerts internationally, and released a highly praised recording of original songs. Anna performs year round for children and family audiences throughout the Northeast at museums, libraries, park, arts centers, early childhood centers, schools, and festivals. She offers early childhood teacher training music workshops nationally for educational organizations, such as NAEYC. Credits include the Brooklyn Children's Museum, the Queen Elizabeth 2 Ocean Liner, the Hudson River Museum, appearances on Sing Me a Story TV show and much more. Anna completed recording a CD of original songs for adults, entitled The Dream Collection in 2003. She is soloist, as well as musician, along with her husband, guitarist and mandolin player Miles Kravis, at weekly Sunday church services at a church in Melville, NY.
Calpulli Mexican Dance Company was founded in 2003 by a group of artists who sought to enrich the quality of Mexican traditional dance in New York City. As a not-for-profit organization, its mission is to teach and produce dance-based programming incorporating live music and theatre to promote a diverse image of Mexican cultural heritage. Calpulli is a word of the Nahuatl language referring to the groups or clans categorized by trade, which contributed to the whole of the Aztec civilization. This young, energetic award-winning group is a calpulli of artists. Calpulli produces professional educational programs and performances comprised of Mexican dance, music, and theatre. Events range from didactic to theatric each showcasing Mexico’s rich
cultural heritage and history through dance. “One of the goals of Calpulli, in general, is to find the heart of what we know as traditional; find how tradition affects us today and honor it using both folk and new forms of expression. It’s an exciting, ever changing road." - Daniel Jáquez, Artistic Director
Hannely Cruceta was only seventeen and a senior at East Hampton High School when she was crowned Miss Latina Hamptons in 2007. Her life has been very busy this past year. She looks forward to catching all of her fans up on her life as Miss Latina Hamptons here at Guild Hall.
